Itafushi (Jujutsu Kaisen)

It's my number 1 right now, like i love them so much! Their ship is really cute and i love the contrast between them and how they work so well together as friends and more! I'm always giggling and shit when i think about them even if they're doomed by the narrative :(

Zolu (One Piece Live Action/Animanga)

I really liked their dynamic after watching the live action so i mainly ship opla! zolu, but any content of this ship is cute and catches my interest! This ship literally made me write fanfics again lol More Zolu please!

Miyusawa/Misawa (Ace of Diamond)

Miyusawa my beloved ❤️ The first time i watched this anime it had been an instant ship, their chemistry is amazing, the pitcher/catcher dynamic is chef's kiss and just the development of their relationship throughout the show was the highlight for me! I watched everything again recently and i still love this ship very much, fave fave fave :')

They are everything honestly! The angst of it all and their beautiful relationship is just aaaah and the show is INCREDIBLE?? Whether it's friendship or more, they love each other so much. In my head they're canon, i mean after what Lu Guang did, for me that's just proof of his love for Cheng Xiaoshi... they make me ill

Renga (Sk8 the Infinity)

Sk8 was the anime of the season when it came out, the serotonin was just high with this one, especially during covid time. Reki and Langa's friendship was the cutest thing to watch and it was so genuine and then ep 7 happened and the ship just sailed really hard for me! So many cute moments while a beautiful relationship blossomed in front of our eyes!! Love!!

Kazurei (Buddy Daddies)

A new favorite from last year! The premise of the show was so engaging to me when it first came out and even though i knew Kazuki and Rei weren't going to be canon, we were still fed so well? Like Queerplatonic, same-sex parentality, friends to lovers trope??? we got everything and more, especially last episode like omg they're canon idc!!

Dreamling (The Sandman)

Fell in love with this ship instantly with just one episode and little content... the fandom got my back though, i was well fed and shipped them even harder thanks to all the fanarts and fanfics! i want season 2 right now and more of them!!

EmiSue (Dickinson TV)

Not my first wlw ship but definitely my favorite! From the first episode i knew they were soulmates and i wanted more of them together! The show gave us everything we wanted and i'm glad i got to witness it :)

Satosugu (Jujutsu Kaisen)

They're not Itafushi but they are Itafushi in some ways?? like parallels we can't ignore. It's a big ship in the fandom but i'm not as invested as many stsg shippers are, though i really like the ship, i read fanfics about them and i love their story in the first part of season 2! So much angst though...

Nobamaki (Jujutsu Kaisen)

I love them together, i think their ship is cute and has a lot of potential! I don't obssess with them enough and i should read more fanfics, but they're amazing so they stay at the top of my list!

Other favorites but not current (or more like 'not in an obsessed phase' type of way): Villaneve, Hannigram, Narlie, Willex, Thominho, Kagehina, Daisuga, Asanoya, Kuroken (I watched Haikyuu again so yeah), Furuharu, Sanarai...

sometimes, it dawns on me just how incredibly happy i am that fanfic exists as a medium. like, the amount of experiences had—excitement and thrills and tears and joy, and more, that writers of fic can give to so, so many people—it's immeasurable; it's wonderful.

this is my first fic rec ever but I’ll do it for my beloveds (fair warning I’m actually really picky when it comes to fics bc i’m not a big fan of aus unless the au is equally as interesting as the canon universe, and the cherik tag is absolutely littered with stuff like archeology au, baker au, professor au, which.... just not for me) 

-time to grow you have to be a member of ao3 but its one of my faves. its based after the end of first class and how erik and charles mend their relationship 

-the line in the sand I like this one bc I think charles is sometimes underestimated, when in reality he’s one of the most dangerous telepaths alive 

-irreconcilable differences (make for suprisingly good bedfellows) so this one is an AU but erik & charles both still have powers, and are both still on “opposing” sides of the debate about how mutant rights should be handled, and is a fun look at their relationship dynamic under different circumstance 

-been there, done that erik is forced to relieve the same day (the beach divorce) over and over again.  

-lucid dreaming its been a while since I read this one so I don’t remember specifics but I liked it (I think?)

-thou shalt not eat stones this one is pretty long, but I like it bc it explores how much erik cares about charles and what he’d do if charles was captured 

-its like one of us woke up another charles gets captured fic lmaooo

New fanfic INCOMING!

I'm currently writing a new fanfic that probably won't be too long, just a simple one-shot, but this one explores and what-if scenario that I randomly thought up of What If Apocalypse knew about Erik and Charles' history so when he recruited Erik, he didn't tell him the full extent of what he planned to do to Charles. Therefore all he told Erik would be that he needed him to send a message, not that he was planning on hurting him in any way. So Apocalypse ends up getting super rough with Charles when Charles resists against his evil villain plan, and Erik gets SUPER protective and pissed off because Apocalypse reportedly told him that he wasn't gonna hurt Charles and Apocalypse is like "i lied, i'm the villain bitch what did you expect" 🤣

Pretty stoked about this simple little one-shot! I'll post here when it's finished 😄

What I’m Reading Now Tag Game

I, like many fanfic readers, used to not read fics if they weren’t complete.  But, now that I’ve been reading fic longer and perhaps because I’m a writer who starts posting a lot of things as I write them, I now read WIPs.  And I think sometimes we don’t give WIPs enough love or attention. They are awesome - it’s like traveling back in time to when you only got an episode a week of a TV show and had to wait months over the summer for a new season (no binging possible)!  And even when they aren’t finished and it seems like they may never be, I find myself so happy to be able to read what is there, because it is often so, so good.

So I am challenging people (myself included) to post some fic recs of WIPs that you are loving right now.  It’s okay if the WIP last updated three years ago or last week - if you are reading it now (as in within the last few months), spread the love and help someone else discover a new fic they might not have tried!

1. Bright Metal on a Sullen Ground by Lynds

“Erik and his band of rebels have finally defeated Shaw, taking the throne of Genosha. Lynds always writes a wonderful tale.  And its King Erik and bed slave Charles - who can resist that?  I cannot wait for more spunky Charles and befuddled Erik interactions!

2. Lehnsherr & Xavier, Attorneys At Law by Lindstrom

This fic is amazing!  I seriously squealed with delight when it updated recently.  Erik and Charles are both hiding things (when aren’t they, really?).  Very intriguing character choices, particularly with Erik.  Wonderful slow build relationship between the two men.  Just, so so good.

3. In Service of the King by pinkoptics and FuryRed

4. Shrapnel by librata

I love historical Cherik - love it.  This fic also has a bit of a Secret Garden vibe, which I love.  The tension is so good.  Another great slow build relationship between the boys.  They still have powers, they’re still achingly complex and sometimes you want to punch them you’re so upset with them.  In other words: perfection.

5. It’s Been a Long Time by Gerec

I love the non-chronological structure of this fic.  It hurts, but in just the right way.  So much angst. It feeds my shipper soul.  Also, I have never seen the movie, or read the book this fic is based on (though I have a general idea of the plot) and it hasn’t decreased my enjoyment of the fic whatsoever.

Cherik Moodboard: Enchanted AU

Note: This is supposed to be a little more detailed exploration of the plot bunnies I have in mind for this (though I am really happy to read that I am not the only one feeling a mighty need for such an AU). I hope to put that into fanfic one of these days, but until I find the time and muses needed… I guess this can be taken as a small preview. :)

In a magical kingdom far, far away lives a young man in a cottage in the woods. Charles is a man heading towards his personal happy ending, as does anyone. With his sister Raven, he has any intention to not only find his personal luck but also for other people. Raven and he are special – they possess a kind of magic. Charles can read people’s minds whereas his sister can change her outer appearance at will.

Charles since harbored the wish to become a teacher and wants to build a school for people like them, those with magical gifts. Westchester Castle would be perfect. And at last, the owner of the property is willing to negotiate a treaty with Charles so that he can build his school there.

However, his supposed benefactor strikes Charles as rather strange. Now meeting him for the first time in person – they conversed by letter before – he can’t read his mind. Charles believes it is due to the strange helmet Sebastian Shaw is wearing, but before he has any chance to investigate, Charles finds himself pushed into a well in Westchester’s garden, and just like that, he is gone…

Erik Lehnsherr is going about his life as a lawyer while keeping a low profile, hoping not to draw too much attention to himself or his teenage son who is busy giving him trouble instead of listening to his father. Until just recently, Erik didn’t even know Peter was his son because his mother and he fell out of touch when he moved to Poland.

Trying to make ends meet as a normal person is hard enough, but doing so as a mutant who has to keep his faster-than-lightning son from exposing them at a time when mutants are more and more under scrutiny is an entirely separate nightmare.

When Erik and Peter pass by Time Square after dinner, both are in for a surprise: A man in a medieval-looking costume runs around in the middle of the busy street, shouting at people to stop thinking. It takes Erik a moment, but then it dawns on him: that man is likely one of them, a mutant. Thus, he instructs Peter to use his lightning speed to get them out of the situation, whiplash notwithstanding.

Peter takes them back to Erik’s loft, where a still very clearly disoriented man with dark hair and beautiful blue eyes struggles with “so many voices.” Any effort of Erik’s to get the man’s personal details fail – knowing very well that the new identification laws for mutants he is desperate to dodge in court won’t do that man any favors if he just hands him over to authorities. But it’s no use.

“I like him,” Peter declares.

“Why?”

“He’s weird.”

“Ah.”

In an effort to help the young man struggling with his mutation, Erik tries to calm him by instructing the, for what it seems, telepath to only focus on his thoughts. Luckily, that solves some of the problems, though sadly, it also creates more since that telepath is strong enough to dig into the darkest corners of Erik’s mind, recovering all those painful memories he put away for good.

“I am so sorry, Erik.”

“It doesn’t matter. I want to know who you are, now that you took a look around my head. So?”

“I am Charles. And I believe something is very much at disarray.”

“You don’t say.”

“I mean to say that… I seemingly ended up in the wrong world.”

As it turns out, Charles was sucked into another dimension. Erik nearly chokes on the name of the man Charles was busy making deals with. Sebastian Shaw. The man who made him into a monster. The man who killed his mother. The man he is still desperate to find and bring to justice.

However, as much as he wants revenge, Erik knows that figuring out the situation with Charles currently takes precedence.

“So we get to keep him?” Peter asks.

“You make it sound like he is a stray cat?”

“Well, he’s a stray guy, then. Though he definitely dresses fancier than the homeless guys down Time Square.”

“I would very much appreciate it if you granted me lodgings until I… well, acquainted,” Charles offers shyly. “It appears my home is in another dimension at this moment.”

Erik agrees to have Charles in his loft until they have this sorted out, though the thought of having a telepath in his home does nothing to calm his mind. After all, Charles accidentally dug in very deep already, and Erik has no intention of revisiting the memories he buried inside him.

The following days are filled with confusion foremost. Charles has some issue adjusting since cars, showers, or toasters are, to his mind, witchcraft. Though Charles seems curiously drawn to that which he doesn’t know, which only ever seems to fuel Peter to show Charles the “ways to modernity” by declaring himself Charles’s personal “reality tour guide.”

While Charles can be convinced to wear something more up-to-date to blend in better in public, his way of expression and lack of knowledge continue to get Erik into one awkward situation after the other.

When Charles starts an impromptu musical number in the park, Erik is just about to lose it, though.

Things hit another level of oddity when Peter’s mother checks in on them without letting Erik know of her surprise visit in advance, only to start making comments about how he seemingly "switched teams" after she runs into a half-naked Charles emerging from the bathroom after yet another hot shower, which he finds an “absolutely fantastic invention” they should have long since adopted in his world.

“It is so convenient!”

Despite their continuing clashes, especially once both discuss the methods of their taking on Shaw, the two have a vested interest in finding the man. After all, Charles himself has any intention to get back home to his sister, for whose safety he fears.

Unknown to them, Raven has since taken it upon herself to search for her brother after he didn’t return from his business dealings with Sebastian Shaw as he promised. And Charles always keeps his promises.

She travels to Westchester. While looking for her brother, she nearly walks in on Shaw talking to some of his minions. Raven can gather that Shaw needed to get rid of Charles because of his powerful mind that may have the power to destroy his plans of world dominion – and used Westchester as a way of luring him into a trap. Though, to Shaw’s dismay, something went wrong and Charles was not killed – as it was planned – but sent to another dimension.

“That’s the trouble with the fairytale world. Here, we can’t win – because the bad never wins here, but that doesn’t mean we can’t gather our weapons and then head back to our terrain where we most certainly can.”

One of his fellows, a blonde woman going by the name Emma Frost, is tasked to travel to that dimension and “take care of business” and ensure that Charles doesn’t get into their way a second time once they launch their plan in the other dimension.

Shaw releases a blast of energy through which Emma can travel to that dimension. Raven takes a chance and sneaks in after the blonde woman without anyone’s realization, only to find herself in the middle of Central Park, naked, blue, in her natural shape – and thus in the eye of everyone.

Unable to control her abilities, Raven has no other choice but to seek cover until she gets a hold of her magic. After all, she has to find Charles before this Emma Frost can.

Though help may soon be on the way when she runs into Hank, a young man who loves video games and tells her that she looks exactly like one of the characters of his club’s most beloved game. The group hails her like some kind of blue goddess, which Raven finds flattering, surely, but she really needs to find her brother first.

Hank volunteers to help her, arguing that she won’t have to hide at the convention he intends to visit, because everyone walks around in costumes there. He reveals to her that this is the one occasion where he also travels around in his natural shape – which is, like hers, blue. Just with a lot more fur. Raven agrees, hoping that going from there, she may have it easier to find Charles. And the prospect of being able to be herself in public, she will have to admit, is all the more intriguing.

In some other part of the city around the same time, Erik has his dear trouble taking care of a kleptomaniac teenage mutant who won’t listen to a word he says and an adult mutant who walks the earth with the curiosity of a child, leaving Erik wondering whether he truly is the only adult in the room.

But then again, Charles is from fairytale land where everyone is happy and where no bad can come to you. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to him that Charles won’t see the bad in the world when Erik witnessed it firsthand, more than once.  

Yet, there is a part of Erik that is completely enchanted by that man’s perception of the world, the happiness and hope he radiates and inspires.

Charles, for his part, finds himself both irritated and fascinated not just by this strange world but the man so kind to take him in. There is a great deal of darkness in Erik that Charles never witnessed back in his world – because it doesn’t exist where he comes from. And more than anything, he wants Erik to see the part Charles saw for himself when he accidentally looked into Erik’s mind, but Erik keeps ignoring this light – all the good in him, his love and his compassion, among many other things. Yet, Charles remains determined to show him just that magic.

In an effort to help mend the fractured relationship between Peter and Erik, Charles tries to communicate their feelings to one another, as this father-son pair fails to express what they truly think and feel. While Erik feels offended at first, he realizes that Charles is doing so with best intentions in mind – and actually succeeds to build a bridge between the two after Erik already thought he’d lose yet another child, like back in Poland.

Things take a sudden turn when Peter takes Charles to a convention in the city, so that Charles can “let the weird run wild and free” – only to run into none other than Hank and Raven.

While everyone is happily reunited, Erik is only left wondering just how many more “stray people” according to Peter he’ll have to take in. Though thankfully, Hank proves to be of help, having developed a device that would increase a telepath’s abilities so drastically that he or she could locate other mutants. Charles is thrilled by the idea, hoping that this will finally give him a chance to track down Shaw, not only for Erik’s sake but now also to make sure that Raven makes her way back home safely.

Erik, while driven to finally find Shaw after all those years, finds his mind constantly overwritten by his growing worry and care for Charles, who, to his mind, puts himself in far too much danger in an effort to find Shaw.

While Charles can’t locate Shaw thanks to the helmet, they end up with a lead on the woman Raven followed, Emma Frost. Conveniently, she hosts a ball that is supposed to be a great finale for the convention – though really just for high society – which may prove like a good opportunity to get some answers.

Thanks to Charles’s convincing, the group has no trouble getting in.

And yet, trouble lurks just behind the next corner, since they are not the only ones with special abilities – and the will to see their goals achieved.

Erik fears that he will remain right in the end – that in his world, there are no happy ending stories…

The Tower and the Hurricane (dreamlittleyo)

- A ‘post-movie’ au, set 5 years after xmfc’s end, it unfolds beautifully in a way that fits really organically with that canon that came before. It makes me tear up!

2. What is your favourite AU Cherik fic?

Two super different aus!

Beloved of Ravens (khaleesian)

- Really vivid and striking viking au, that’s been a big inspiration for me. Warning for non/dub-con.

Anarchy in the UK (Yahtzee)

- Locked for AO3 users, beautiful modern royalty au, featuring journalist Erik and Prince of Wales, Charles.

3. What is your favourite slow burn, super long Cherik fic?

Everyday Love in Stockholm (tahariel)

- Amazing fic, phenomenal world-building/speculative mutant government; it’s so beautiful and it hurts my heart! Warnings for character death and stockholm syndrome.

4. What’s your favourite short and sweet Cherik fic?

I’m interpreting ‘short and sweet’ as the colloquial phrase meaning ‘short’ but not necessarily sweet (as I don’t think I’d call either of these sweet).

- Super interesting and subtle take on a/b/o break-ups, so much done with so little words, super angsty!

Possession (Tawabids)

 - Very short, but shockingly intense with an amazing final line!

5. Which Cherik fic gives you all the angst and the feels?

- Mob au, stunning, emotional roller coaster (moving from sexy to funny to angsty and back!) I dare you not to cry! (I think I’m interpreting this one weirdly again, focusing on ‘all the feels’ meaning, ‘I feel every single feeling at various points’)

6. What’s your favourite PWP/smutty Cherik fic?

This one I found especially hard! Here are two really amazing ones, a (more) vanilla one, followed by a kinky one. Both happen to be bottom Erik:

I haven’t been reading a lot of Cherik fics lately (mostly Hannibal), even as I’ve been writing Cherik, however the few things I have read have all been amazing. I need to get back and catch up!

What Night Brings Dawn (Gerec) @gerec

- So rich in such a short amount of words, building a complex world and an angsty, complicated relationship! Stunning and tragic!

8. If you could only recommend one Cherik fic, what would it be?

Nine Eleven Ten (Subtilior) @subtilior

- Since I can only pick one, why not one of the fandom’s longest fics! So much to love about this fic, like the amazing world building/speculative fiction plotting, but I think what I most love is the fantastic characterization, specifically Charles as complicated, nuanced, and utterly human. So fantastic!! Warning for non-con. WIP.

last book you enjoyed reading: "cisexismo y salud" de An Millet. If you know Spanish or Portuguese, highly recommended. You can buy it online. It's about working in healthcare as a trans person.

last book you read: currently reading "great expectations" by Charles Dickens and I swear it's becoming my favorite book

most niche dislike: I don't know what's niche but I really dislike the Loki show. Except for the music, everything sucks.

But in my defense (insert sobbing noises)—anyway I got lost in my aunts suburban neighbourhood once while texting and walking and my phone was on 3% when I noticed I was lost—the more I thought “oh it’s this way!” The more I got lost. When I pulled up Google maps it said the house was 20 minutes away and—

Time will set us Free: A Cherik Fanfic

Dedicated to @the-charles-to-my-erik Chapter 7 Erik slipped the ring on Charles' finger and straightened up, his hands on his beloved, his now fiancée. Charles pulled Erik into a kiss, the moonlight shining down below them as it illuminated their surroundings. "I want to love you for the rest of my life" said Charles, his soon to be husband kissing him gently on his forehead. "And now we can" replied Erik in small whispers as he leaned back taking Charles' hand and lead him back inside. Inside was calm, the music had slowed down and in fact it was the same song they dance to the day they first met. "Is this our song?" Asked Erik his own eyes staring back into his fiancé's, his hand still intertwined with each others. "I think so" Charles said back. The happy couple went and searched for their friends telling them the good news. Raven screamed the hardest followed by the excitement of the other girls who followed by her actions. Moria and Angel admired the ring on Charles' finger each both giving an excitement of joy and happiness for Charles' engagement. Sean, Alex and Hank patted rim on his his shoulders before they went back to do the same to Charles. "Congratulations Charles" said Hank with a smile as he hugged his best friend. Alex and Sean dos the same thing with a even bigger smile than in previous years. Emma Frost had heard the commotion by the loud scream that escaped Raven's mouth. "Hey, what's happened over here?" She asked, her blonde hair in a loose knot on her head, her dress covered in bright diamonds. "I'm engaged" said Charles his arm around Erik's as he showed him the ring on his finger. As he showed him, Emma Frost stood there, her amazement to overwhelming; she jumped up and down with her arms fraying about. "Oh gosh I'm so proud" she squealed her hands waving over her face trying to dry the tears away. She hugged both Erik and Charles, congratulating both of them for their engagement. "I want to organise your wedding" said Raven, her smile still plastered on her face. "Raven we haven't planned it out yet" said Charles but Raven wasn't having it. "Don't worry me, Angel, Moria, Sean, Hank and Alex are here to help you do so" "What about me?" Snapped Emma her hands on her hips. "Of course I haven't forgotten you, you of course are the best at design and decorations" said Raven back as she went to give Emma a tight hug. Emma accepted. Charles and Erik dance for the rest of the night and kissed for most of it. "So Mr Lehnsherr, what do you want to do afterwards?" Erik smiled as they dance their way through the night. "I'll stick with Xavier, but thank you Mr Lehnsherr for the offer" laughed Charles his head now resting against Erik's chest. The night was still young and Charles had yawn a couple of times telling Erik that they should head home. Raven, Charles and Erik said their goodbyes and farewells to to their friends as they went home immediately. The journey wasn't long and for what seemed like a long time Charles had been blessed with a new more then just a few strikes of love. He was getting married. He was finally able to spend the rest of his life with the one he loves. Until death do us part.
